General Secretary's NCF Nepal Updates

It is my pleasure to update you about my works under NCF Nepal. Last 10 months I had wonderful time, which is worthwhile to mention here. First of all I had to pay attention on the internal management of the office. Policies were approved and implemented. A review of strategic plan and the manifesto were reviewed and an annual plan is proposed for the year 2007-2008.

I went checking files and setting files in order. The addresses were tried to be updated. The finance staff prepared a data of past ten years of donors' status. Appreciable amounts were funded for conferences of various types, church buildings, and bridge construction and for general administration, nonformal education, drinking water, welfare and relief. But last 4/5yrs the status was found gone down to almost zero. The remaining works for Church building in Banke and a bridge in Gorkha were postponed for more than one-year lack of communication with the partners. This was another area that took time to reestablish the partnership. Many efforts were made in updating and writing to the partners. At least we came in touch with almost all partners except few could not be reached due to email outdated or invalid.

We had meetings at various levels i.e. internal departmental meetings, executive meetings and staff meetings to discuss needs and exploring inputs for policy making and planning. A number of Executive Meetings took place, the meetings made various decisions to build a system of management.

A software account course was provided, organized jointly NCFN with Promot Nepal in order to adapt a software programme.

We had meetings with one third of the ex-donors for patnership. We found some of our donors are no longer with NCFN, we found some already with our senior leaders and pastors. I can name those organizations. Radio ministry was initiated in agreement between NCFN and the government Radio Nepal until this Mid December 2008. But now this has gone to private party.

The next chapter is to update the membership status, relation status, need status, commitment status and leadership status of member churches of NCFN. So I as General Secretary made a plan to have planning workshops and church visits in all the regions of Nepal. Last 3 months I was traveling in these regions. I had wonderful time during planning workshops and leadership seminars.

During my visit I was privileged to join the dedications of a bridge in Bhansabari and two Churches in Banke and in Palung. The bridge project has brought various changes due to having economic and educational activities. The bridge was constructed with an exemplary participation of the community in funding and working for the bridge construction.

I was also privileged to join at least three medical camps, Chepang, Palung and Dhading Sasaha. My wife was also involved in two of the three medical camps, Maisirang, Chepang and Palung. I strongly feel that there should be a follow up health care programme should be launched in the places where we have medical camps in order to improve the health of the communities.

There are growing Churches with mission vision for evangelism and Church planting. There are manifold problems being faced by the Churches in the areas of leadership, morality and ownership of Church properties. There are some Churches facing intervention by the denominational and false teaching Church groups.

I was privileged to be a speaker for the regional youth conference in Hetauda. There was other speaker as well. There were 350 youth participants. The theme of the conference was to build exemplary Christian Character in the life of youth.

I was privileged to take sessions on the concept of decision-making and planning followed by interactive discussion in the Leadership seminar in Pokhara.I also visited Nuwakot Trisuli Churches. I came to know the early persecutions in Mahadev Binay Church in Trisuli, this incident forced Christians to leave the place. Praise God, the church is still alive with new leadership with extended branch fellowships. The story of Trisuli can be read in the book " Braver than Gorkhas" written by Ramesh Khatry.

A land for NEBC has been purchased. A number of NEBC Board meetings took place. We are praying for promotion of the ongoing BTh programs. A new department named Leadership Training Department was initiated for short leadership course of a month, to conduct leadership mobile seminars and Leader's Family Seminar. We have planned to initiate non-academic degree program for leaders and pastors with non-academic background, will start in March 2008 at the head quarter new top floor.

This year we distributed Samaritan Purse gifts successfully in various districts and corners of Nepal, Many children were blessed and the message of love of Christ was spreaded many places. I was excited to see the Children being pleased in receiving gifts. I was privileged to speak few words of bible followed by the Samaritan story of love demonstrated by His people from around the globe.

There are 22 evangelists around the country in five regions. The Churches are very encouraged to have the evangelists in supporting and extending the church planting and evangelism works.

We have made an agreement with a technical company for the developmental works and construction. We have technical advisors for technical engineering works as well.

I was also privileged to take few subjects on the roles of husband in developing wife and also on the biblical basis of marriage in the Leader' Family Seminar organized by LTD.I participated the other activities of the seminar. I also monitored the seminar. I appreciate the works Manoj Pradhanang is doing in leadership development.

The National Mission Conferences organized by MCN/NCFN was a historical one and very relevant and in time. Mr. RP Shrestha did a great job and all staffs worked for the conference are the people of appreciations. The leaders were greatly challenged for the mission works.

We are working hard to legalize the lands belongs to NCFN. We are praying for the building of NEBC. Mr. Manoj Shrestha is working hard with his team to upgrade NEBC.

I am really concern in getting approval from Social Welfare Council for programs and projects NCFN does through Head quarters and departments. We have do bring lot of changes to accommodate with the institutional development of NCF Nepal.

The existing practice of NCFN management will take time to be changed. It will take time for staff to be accommodated with new management practices for the institutional development of NCF Nepal.

General Secretary,
